I don't think it's written in stone.

I think there's a very large percent chance, 70%, 80%, that it's Gavin McKenna.

But we don't...

You don't really ever know how someone's thinking or what kind of cards they're holding.

So it's hard for me to say with any degree of certainty.

And I know the rest of the league is sitting here wondering the same thing.

Right, and so what that signals to me is that they're probably going to be pretty aggressive this offseason.

They clearly did some of their shopping already with Artemi Panarin.

They're looking to try and land a replacement for Andrzej Kopitar.

I'm sure they'd be one of those teams that would love to get in the mix for Dylan Larkin, particularly Ken Holland's relationship with Dylan Larkin going back to drafting him.

But that said, we don't know yet what kind of team the Kings are going to be because we don't know what they're going to be able to accomplish.

Right now, I see the Kings as a non-playoff team and a pretty firm one at that as they're constituted, but they don't really have an appetite for a team that's an also-ran.

They're an organization that they kind of know from a business perspective they need to be in the mix for the playoffs in order to sell.

And so I'd expect that to continue as a trend.

And it's kind of interesting now with Peter Laviolette, seven teams.

He's the only coach in NHL history to take six different teams to the playoffs, and seven is a lot.

I wonder what this year out of hockey, really for the first time in his career, a full year out of hockey, I wonder what that did for him.
