Very shortly before they were to take off... I'll never forget this either. The doorbell rang. Chuck wasn't here. He was at work. And I went to answer the door, and it was Devereaux. And I said, sweetheart, what are you doing here? And she said she was over visiting her friend Carolyn.

So I invited her in and I brought her back into my bathroom because I was getting ready. And she sat there on the closed lid toilet. And we talked and we visited.

I was still married to my Lutheran minister husband, and we used to get together with a bunch of other ministers every now and then because they knew each other. The wives liked each other. And one time, we went over to a pastor's house here in Oak Cliff, Dallas. One of the other couples had invited to the party Gail. Chuck Claver and his present wife, Sandra Claver.
