Yeah, I know our girls were definitely inspired by the group, obviously, that he was coaching there whenever they went across, getting into that World Cup semi-final in 2014, and obviously the way he was leading the group, and I know he actually had an impact on a few of the girls as well.
So, unfortunately, I never had the privilege of meeting him, but I know there's a lot of girls who are obviously hurting with the news, and obviously what he's done for the game, for the Irish women's game,
To be able to put them in a position now to obviously be driving the game forward, pushing forward after a World Cup recently, Six Nations as well, they've kind of put them into a spin where hopefully it's only going to get better.
So it's terrible news for Irish rugby, Irish women's rugby, Irish rugby in general.
So yeah, condolences definitely to his family.
It's a sad time for an Irish rugby sport.
Yeah, it's a positive sort of way of going, isn't it?
Yeah.
There's many games where you can play in and you can be points up on your 50-odd points and you've scored your bonus points and you're playing a team that has only one try on the board and you empty the bench and the bench come off and it's just a little bit like, oh, we're kind of just, the game's petering out a little bit and playing many games that it's very easy to score tries very quickly at any level and that kind of takes away from that.
It also means that, you know, you kind of have to keep
keep playing you keep going after points you've got to keep going to try and defend and keep teams out um so i like i think it just makes the over the course of the 80 minutes and it also means like team selection as well um you know you kind of have to go into the for me the champions cup is the pinnacle and i it always is something that is it's a it's a disappointment for me whenever you see teams that maybe don't always select the strongest team regardless and i understand that you want to be secure in teams and you're looking at different competitions but but
Throughout this entire season, all we've talked about is trying to get into the next year's Champions Cup.
And then when you get there, you don't actually pick the strongest team.
And I think hopefully all these little changes that are in there is going to implement the fact that every time those games take place, they're going to be the big games.
no unfortunately i hadn't i just sort of got to see it from afar though but obviously you know two big two big characters in irish rugby world renowned um obviously the way fergus played the game um i'd have been probably a little bit before my time as well but definitely very aware of what he did and was somebody that you'd looked up to whenever you looked at the lion series and stuff like that as well so like you know condolences to the family there and obviously with philip um
Somebody who was in round, I suppose I was coming through very young with Irish rugby, was very aware of who was actually the CEO of it.
But again, my dealings wouldn't have been an awful lot.
But the way he's carried himself and what he's done for Irish rugby over his tenure, three decades of being involved in the Irish rugby system.
So listen, he's seen some great days in Irish rugby as well and pushed things through.
And that's why the Irish rugby is sitting where it is today.
