Look, the way this is supposed to work, the way the White House has outlined it, is that this deal uh creates uh basically a joint venture between an unnamed Venezuelan oil company, a driller essentially in Venezuela, backed by American money and expertise, which, when they start developing parts of this giant oil and gas field that exists off the coasts of Venezuela, could result in these billions of.
Of dollars of oil being produced, then a certain percentage of them are earmarked to the U.S., basically at cost.
The president has said he intends to use some of that oil to refill the strategic petroleum reserve, which has been drawn down by millions of barrels during the course of the Iran war, and also provide some of that fuel, essentially, that oil directly to the military, which is an interesting idea because the U.S.
Military is like the single biggest purchaser of uh fuel oil across the globe.
It's the biggest in the US as a as sort of one entity.
Uh, but look, all of this is going to take a lot of time.
