And there are a lot of people at Anthropic who are sympathetic to effective altruism.
But there are a lot of people at in effective altruism and AI safety who are like, shut it down.

Yeah, and and he he kind of proceeds like a lot of AI safety precedes effective altruism.
Um but yeah, I think there's just a lot of mixed opinions here.
And I would guess the bulk of the opinion is on like stop, just don't build it.
Um I do think the anthropic model is like build it and be in control of it, and we are the ones who can do it safely.
And I think this is incredibly naive, uh, both because it's very difficult to build smarter than human machines that will do what you want and not have unpredictable, un
desirable outcomes for the world.
And then also just the government is going to get control of the systems and they're going to use it for whatever they want, which is not going to be compatible with like Anthropic's worldview, right?

Like with Claude.
You know, they're trying to get Claude to be useful for lethal autonomous weapons or mass surveillance.
And there's this fight and Anthropics sort of won, but the government can just get the models and then take the safeguards off and use it for whatever they want.
