And then Trump is, you know, taking his cues from that at political cost to himself and to his party.
And I think this is just one of those issues where.
it really is like almost everybody against this tiny set of people who are trying to build this technology and and the people like in the tech right who
wanna let it rip.
And if you look at polling for this, it's like the least popular position you could have.
It's just like no regulation for for this technology.
Um I mean it is weird.
Yes.
Yeah.
I mean I've seen experts on both sides saying it would be antitrust violation to coordinate in this way, because you're like slowing down progress of of this uh technology towards an undesirable end.
But, you know, that is uh kind of classic cartel behavior.
Um on the other side, it's like
they could afford the fines.
You know, the biggest fines ever for this are in the single digits billions of dollars.
These companies are taking hundreds of billions in investment.
And so if they really cared, if they thought it was existentially important, they could run that risk.
And it's an excuse.
It's a convenient excuse for the industry to avoid um doing you know the right thing and slowing down here.
I it's been interesting to see how people line up on this because a lot of people on the left are very skeptical of this Bernie Cassar proposal to pause frontier development and to ban superintelligence.
