I think for me at that time, I mean, obviously it had been a really difficult year for everyone.
We had COVID, we had the hubs, everything that was going on.
And I actually wasn't sure whether or not I'd be able to get back to join the group to finish my career.
I'd made the decision to leave the WA hub to go back.
We had some personal things going on at the time.
um and then i remember i still remember calling the the geelong football club and saying hey i'd love to get back up and join the group i knew that a lot of work needed to be done because i hadn't done really any training over the eight or nine weeks i'd been away from the group um and i was actually told that when we got to the hub there was going to be a footy over there i ended up getting there and i think there was an oval that might have been 40 by 40. so that was where i was doing my training um
Got to join the group, I think it was the last round that I played against Sydney and I really had to prove myself because, I mean, we'd been playing some really great football and I didn't want to take a spot away from someone that had been playing for the whole year.
And then obviously, yeah, we got to the 2020 Grand Final.
My wife Jordan and my boy Levi got to be there to experience that.
Although we didn't win, that was still special for those reasons.
But I still can't believe the way it played out.
Like I went into that game, I was feeling great.
You know, I went down in the first five minutes and I knew at the time that I'd done something serious.
Like I actually felt the shoulder dislocate and felt what felt like a bone cracking.
The thing that confused me as I was walking down to the rooms was that the second procedure I had was what they call a Latige procedure.
And basically what that is, is they take the coracoid bone, they put it over the joint, they put two big screws in there and that's to stop it from dislocating.
I was told at that time, if I didn't have that procedure, then my career is pretty much done.
So we got down to the rooms, obviously tested it out.
The doctor said, what do you want to do?
I said, it's obviously a grand final.
