I'll never forget it because he had an office at Boston College and it overlooked the stadium.

And he had a Heisman Trophy.

And he said, son, I always loved being called son.

And I would just melt.

It's like an arm around the shoulder.

I don't know what it is about that word.

He said, son, I'm going to go ahead and offer you, which meant a scholarship.

I'm going to offer you.

And he said something to the effect of you're 17 years old or maybe I was 18.

He said, you have an NFL body.

And I remember thinking, wow, I've really fooled another one.

And part of me was saying I was afraid this was going to happen because I'm going to have to take the scholarship and I know I'm going to be in over my head.

And then the other side of it was, this is so exciting and somebody believes in me.

And did part of you feel like, oh my God, I'm going to be playing for this incredible coach.

Whatever problems I had in high school, this guy is the guy.

He's a genius.

He's going to fix whatever problem I had.

I'm going to be a star.

Yeah.

So he takes a scholarship.
