The FA?
Nothing?
They have no power or control over clubs at all.
They're in the hands of the Premier League.
I was part of an England set-up for four years, and it's not an excuse, but the FA have no control, no power whatsoever to be able to influence Premier League managers
who are fighting for their jobs to pick young players at the age of 17, 18, 19.
It's the honest answer.
You're in the hands of the Premier League clubs, the belief of the individual clubs, like a Southampton or a Tottenham with Maurizio Pochettino or Manchester United, I think Liverpool, Everton, to be fair.
Clubs that have it inbuilt in them to give youth a chance to have their own players out on the pitch.
But you have no power at the FA.
The FA can't control anything with respect to players getting into the first team and pathway.
They can try and talk about it, but they haven't got really any... You can't make...
Slavin Bilic next weekend or Sean Dyche or anybody else playing 18-year-old or Tony Pulis or any of these managers, you can't force them to.
Is that depressing for you or not?
A little bit.
It's a fundamental flaw in the sort of structure of the game in this country.
You look in other countries and Federation and the League are one.
The FA and the Premier League are not one.
The FA, I think... It's going to change soon.
