The reason I created Ample Harvest, other than I grew up with finished what's on your plate.

Kids are starving in Europe.

I'm a post-war baby.

Me too.

There's a point my wife said, don't bring any more of that house.

We have too much of that.

So I called up a woman in my town who I knew ran a battered woman's shelter.

And I said, may I bring this?

She said, yes.

I bring the stuff over.

The woman takes the food.

And as I'm walking away, she's very appreciative.

And as I'm walking away, she says,

oh, this is great, now we can have fresh food.

It had never dawned on me that people weren't getting fresh food.

It's all processed food, yeah.

You'd be amazed at how many kids think that peas come in pods and apples come pre-sliced in cellophane.

So that was the beginning of the learning.

But I visit food pantries, and I'm a fly on the wall.

I sit in the side, I just want to see what's happening.
