There's a lot of information about connection.
There is not...
Too many people, there are a few, really say, well, how do you set a boundary?
Because the problem is not the boundary.
Parents know how to say no more biscuits.
They don't know what to do when their kids push back and say, well, I'm having fun anyway, or they're melting down, or they're hitting their sister, or they're hitting their parents.
So I found I was on a lot of one-on-one calls with parents saying, like,
Jen, I'm like naming the emotions.
Just have a question.
Do I keep doing it while my toddler's kicking me in the kneecaps?
No, we can stop that.
So I'm trying to encourage parents to have the confidence to know they're not going to ruin attachments.
And in fact, they make attachment, they make confident kids by setting firm boundaries and that there's a skill in that.
So I'm sort of trying to break down, well, how do we set a boundary in a way that keeps us in connection with our kids?
I think it's a game changer.
If parents are burning out,
under the weight of some of the expectations around parenting.
Boundaries free our parents to actually kind of do what works and doesn't work for them, which is so kind for kids.
It's so much kinder to model that even though I love you to the moon and back, I'm going to let you know what works and doesn't work for me because I'm the grown-up and I'm running this house and it's my job to keep everybody safe.
No, I jump a step before that.
