So if something is an Audible exclusive, Project Hail Mary, which I talked about, the other one that's an Audible exclusive, I don't know if you've heard or listened to the Let Them Theory.

That was a really big title last year.

And we have the ebook and it's been really popular, but we aren't able to get the audiobook because that's an Audible exclusive.

So

Yeah, there's a couple of Margaret Atwood titles that are Audible exclusives that we can't get.

So absolutely, if something's an Audible exclusive, you won't be able to get it at your public library, at least in audio.

Usually, yeah.

There are some e-books that we aren't able to get, but I would say typically those are more available for us because there's not this platform like the Audible exclusives.

Yeah, that's a great question.

there's a couple of things.

I think I talked a friend about our collection policy and our selection criteria.

So no matter what kind of title we're looking at, we apply those selection criteria.

And some of the criteria include things like the reputation of the author or publisher.

And so if there's an AI title and we don't know anything about the author or the publisher, that might be something that like, well, we probably won't purchase this because we don't sort of know anything about it.

There's other criteria in terms of

interest to Calgarians so is this a title that's of interest to Calgarians and I would say one of the things that Libby does ask authors or publishers to indicate whether they've used AI it's not required so they don't all do that but we I think one of the things that we have really pushed for in libraries are pushing for is that transparency right so there might be reasons that we choose to buy something there was a title recently where the

author wrote a some kind of character who was an ai character and she acknowledged that she had used ai to write those parts of the the novel and so there might be a reason that we would purchase that title so i think that that transparency piece is what's really important for us because because our patrons i think want to know whether they're they're reading something that uses ai
