What was the biggest surprise for you?
Some lads have got better memories than others.
I mean, Grovesy, Perry Groves, seems to be able to remember everything.
I'm not so good.
He's just making it up as he goes along.
Yeah, exactly.
And what did strike me about the actual match, though, more than what went round it, Jeff, was the sheer...
ferocity of it the sheer pace of the game i mean there was virtually no football played especially in that first half um the ball was just like a pinball and the tackles flying in people getting thumped to the ground getting up brushing themselves down and the ref's right there and he's going come on lads get on with it you know nobody trying to get somebody else in trouble um people say the game's quicker now and i mean it is because players are fitter
faster, stronger.
But that was played at some tempo.
And we didn't let up really for 90 minutes.
If anything, I think once I got that goal in the second half, we went up a notch.
And then we dominated the game really.
Liverpool had a couple of little chances.
But for the most part, we were the look in the better team and we settled a bit more and played a little bit more football.
I do remember in the dressing room, and I don't know who it was, it might have been Lee, we were all sat there and somebody shouted out, lads, lads, we might as well retire now because it's never going to get any better than this.
And, you know, looking back, it hasn't.
Can you claim that one, Dicko?
Do you remember saying that?
