Federal prosecutors say that a former top SPLC official helped funnel $1.2 million in donor money to an informant who was also her lover.
The Department of Justice made the shock reveal in a court filing Tuesday.
The official is believed to be Heidi Baric, who led the center's intelligence project from 2012 to 2019.
Her lover is only identified in the filings as F9, an informant that, quote, infiltrated the neo-Nazi organization National Alliance.
Prosecutors say Baric and F9 shared two bank accounts and owned a home together.
Between 2015 and 2021, $140,000 in donor money flowed from the SPLC to their joint bank accounts.
Baric also used SPLC funds to cover their housing expenses while she drew nearly $200,000 in annual salary before leaving the SPLC in 2019.
