I mean, when I was 25 and I was like, why aren't I doing all of these things that I think I should be doing?

And then I was like, looking back, I'm like, because I was 25.

Okay, whatever.

I think now in the new cycle that we are in, in the digital age, I sound so old, with like social media.

I think that there is only now really this hunger for a different type of authenticity.

So in terms of what viewers want to watch and who they want to tell them the worst of the world and who they want to tell them the best of the world, trust is still the most important thing.

So if you have...

the audience's trust and they are going to go to you when they're not sure what's going on in the world.

They don't know how to feel.

They're not exactly sure if they're going to be able to afford their groceries the next week or whatever.

But then I can also tell you that, yeah, you know who smells amazing?

Tom Cruise.

Like I can tell you all of these things and I think that that's okay.

I've been very fortunate where I am right now that I can be that person, but it's not lost on me because I know that a lot of young journos and the conversations that I have with still a lot of young journos coming through the ranks, that they don't feel like they have that backing.

They don't feel like they can be that.

And it's something that I'm keen for the future to work more in terms of mentoring and trying to get people to just be themselves a little bit more on air, which is scary.

Don't get me wrong, it's taken me 10 years.

to figure it out.

But ever since I did, ever since I actually embraced that, because I remember being at the ABC, one of my like the things that I tore myself apart was like I need to be more of a hard news journo.
