Do what you said you're going to do.
Now, a lot of people will push back and say, you know what?
I'm just going to wait until it actually hits my account and then I'll decide.
No, because what you're doing at that point is you're leaving the decisions up to your primitive brain and you're relying on willpower to see all of that money sitting there
And that you're going to just do the right thing with it, right?
When you sit down ahead of time, what you're actually doing is putting your prefrontal cortex in charge of your money.
Your prefrontal cortex is the highest part of your brain.
It's the part that cares about your well-being, your wealth building.
It can think long-term.
It can avoid instant gratification, right?
So you want to put that part of your brain in charge.
That's why we sit down and do it ahead of time, even if it's just an estimate, so that when the money actually hits, when it actually arrives, you're ready to just walk out and do exactly what you said you were going to do.
When you rely on the money just coming in and you deciding in the moment what you're going to do with it, you are setting yourself up for failure and more of the same.
So we do not want to do that.
