For the manufacturers, their input costs have definitely gone up.
Things like plastic, copper, aluminium, and a lot of that is to do with the conflict in the Gulf.
Shipping costs have gone up too.
And as Nicholas said there, sometimes people are just having to buy what's left in the store, even if it's a more expensive model than they'd actually like.
But the real story here is supply and demand.
I spoke to Nick Glynn.
He's the chief executive of Buy It Direct, one of the biggest online retailers in the UK.
And he said that if he was buying air conditioners now, he'd have to pay three times more for them than at the start of this year.
But even that's not really an option because there just aren't any.
Yeah, I was looking at this in recent days.
Let's start with Mayaco.
It's a British manufacturer.
It has eight portable AC units on its website and all of them have sold out and they're not even taking pre-orders for them.
Now, as an example, one of them is listed on their website for £630.
That's around US$850, but it's sold out.
If you go to Amazon, you can find that machine listed by a third-party seller, but it's selling for nearly $2,000.
So that's more than double what Miyako charges.
