And then the other thing is that they're not being offered resettlement.
The Democratic Republic of Congo, as soon as these people arrived, they put them in a hotel near the airport and said, OK, you have to leave.
You can't stay here.
You know, this is happening in 11 countries now in Africa.
In most of them, the host country is just saying, all right, you have to go.
It's either to your country of origin, and we're going to force you there soon, or you got a couple days to figure out somewhere else to go.
Most people are returning to their countries of origin, which is something that federal judges specifically barred for the vast majority of these people.
At least one Russian dissident who was sent back via Egypt, he immediately was taken into Russian custody and has disappeared.
It is against U.S.
and international law to deport someone to a country that's just going to deport them to a place where they won't be safe.
It's called chain refoulement.
So far, the Trump administration has said, well, these countries said that they weren't going to force them back to their home countries.
And then they're just sort of pretending that they don't know what's actually happening.
And that is moving through the courts very slowly.
The Mother Jones story was about this private equity firm called Stone Peak.
Stone Peak bought OmniAir International, which is a longtime ice flight charter that does all of the Africa and Asia large jet removals, has for years.
The sale went through in April 2025.
And since Stone Peak purchased them, their ICE flights have quadrupled.
We know in 2019, they charged $34,000 per flight hour for a similar removal to Asia.
