It's not that long since your debut came out.
And it was an independent publisher and you decided that that's what you wanted to do.
And I wanted to ask you if you feel that within that context of teaching um Turkish food for over twenty years and and banging the drum for Turkish food, whether it is something like a book
through the help of Instagram that really does then set you off like a rocket and make you the real sort of authentic voice of Turkish food.
Not that there are not others and we'll talk about those, but you know, you can stake your claim there.
It is.
It and it's a sense of belonging and and I every time I do an episode with someone who has come from another homeland, the diasporic listenership goes through the roof.
I mean, it is really quite noticeable and it's wonderful because and it is because food connects.
And I noticed that um the um the the lady at the ambassadors residence who introduced you
She talked she used the word gastrodiplomacy and I looked this up.
I thought, ooh, that's an interesting word.
And I looked it up and it's it's a it's a it's quite recent as a term.
And the underlying idea, as scholars frame it, is that gastrodiplomacy aims at creating an oblique emotional connection to a culture through food rather than attempting
to influence opinion directly.
Now the word diplomacy is crucial in this.
What do you think she meant in that Turkish ambassador's residence within that context?
The first lady having just spoken to you for about twenty minutes in front of an audience.
