Why this one?
It feels like a recipe as old as Lebanon itself.
I think that that's what appealed to me when I chose to make it tonight.
It's like so much has changed in the Middle East.
And yet this feels like people have been eating this dish for years.
I love those conversations.
You recently were given the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Guild of Food Writers.
As somebody who's been telling stories for 30 years, you're in your mid-70s.
What does a Lifetime Achievement Award feel to you?
Presumably, you've got plenty more stories to tell, but what does it feel like to get a Lifetime Achievement Award?
Does it feel like David Attenborough or something?
Yeah.
I mean, you are amongst the greats, Claudia Roach.
I mean, I remember Elizabeth Luard saying to me that she told her daughter that she'd got the Lifetime Achievement Award.
And her daughter said, well, what did you think, mom?
You're going to get the Newcomer Award?
That's very funny.
