When parents try to talk their child into obeying and reasoning with a small child, they're putting that child in a position that they are not mature or responsible enough to handle.

They're erasing that line of authority that God has placed between the parent and the child, and they're bringing that child up to a peer level with

the parent.

And that can cause confusion because they're not mature and responsible enough to carry that.

So the parent needs to be the parent and the child needs to be the child.

And so we need to give clear instructions and then require our children to respond and obey to those instructions.

Otherwise, we're sending mixed signals and they're going to be confused as to when should we obey and when should we not.

Yeah, I think so too.

Consistency is key because when we are consistent, children learn the law of the harvest.

They learn that they reap what they sow, that there are consequences when they do something wrong.

And I think it's okay to tell them what those consequences are going to be.

So for direct disobedience, we had this consequence.

For whining, there was the consequence of you're going to have to wait two or three minutes until you can come back and ask the right way or communicate the right way.

So consequences can can differ.

But I think that we need to set clear boundaries.

When we set clear boundaries and our children know what those boundaries are, they're going to be more secure because they are going to know I have a choice here.

This is a clear boundary.

I can either choose to obey or choose to disobey.

What should a parent do if when they're disciplining their child, the kid is smirking or being like, that doesn't even hurt?

Well, again, it goes back to God changing the heart.
