That's understandable.

I think a lot of people find themselves.

Many of her neighbors did not have flood insurance either.

So she wasn't alone.

And unfortunately, we know what happened with Helene.

That came after the remnants of Helene met up with another system that had already been there days before.

They were just super soaked.

And yes, 30 inches of rain had fallen.

And we saw all the deadly and devastating results.

Unfortunately, she wasn't covered.

I understand not wanting to freak people out, but I also really believe in transparency.

And I think it would be incredible if, you know, we could see all of those predictive values.

The nicer update, I guess, is that a nonprofit did step in to help her and some of her neighbors to rebuild, and they are moving back in today.

FEMA tells us that they are, quote, maintaining their standard mapping approach and is also modernizing its modeling to provide a more comprehensive view of flood risk that extends beyond the traditional regulatory boundaries.

So they are saying that things will change.

I don't know when.

I'm sure that that's something that we'll have to just keep looking for.

But in the meantime, because that could take a long time, I do think that this is just a little wake-up call for all of us

If I had seen it in the future, I don't know if I would have bought a different house, partly just because I love my house and also I love my neighborhood and my neighbors are great.
