I'll get you out of school for six months.

We'll come up with some bloody excuse.

And you've got six months.

But if you go busking today, start now on the bottom rung, play on the street where no one cares, learn your craft.

I guarantee you'll always have a living in music if you go now.

And I went home and I put my school bag in the hall and I said to my ma, Frankie told me I can go busking and I really want to do it.

And I went in and my ma sold fruit in Moor Street.

My ma was one of the dealers and her mother.

So I didn't go to the north side.

I didn't go to Henry Street because I knew all the women because I used to sell fireworks on Henry Street as a kid.

So I knew people there.

I knew all of the scene there.

So I didn't want to go there because it was too embarrassing.

So I went over to the south side, which I'd never been.

And I went to a little lane way off Graffin Street where Mary Begley still busks.

And I played and I made 20p.

And I remember going to a cafe after that and I bought a cup of tea.

And it was the first cup of tea I'd ever bought in my life out of my own money that was made from music.
