There'll be a certain radio message where you can tell the difference between a driver who's ranting and one who maybe uses specific language, which is to try and trigger a response from race control.
And the commentators often pick up on that.
They go, ah, he said that for a reason.
But on the general ranting thing, it's always amazed me that, and I guess this is just a habit, maybe Conor would know better than us, that drivers develop over time as they get used to racing with radios.
But so often they are just venting.
I love the idea that they press the button sometimes.
so that their mate on the pit wall can hear how furious they are.
You know, when I did club racing or karting and that, I was always shouting in my helmet.
I can't imagine having the kind of presence of mind to then press a button so that my dad on the pit wall could have heard it as well.
It's amazing how these habits...
And as you said, it's a goldmine for the F1 broadcast.
Whenever there's a conversation now about should there be a radio ban or should there be radio traffic be cut down?
I don't think we'll ever see that because it adds so much to the broadcast.

F1 do a super cut of radio traffic afterwards.
afterwards and i'm sure motor gp has been trying to bring in radios for a little while now and one of the inklings we get over there is that they kind of want to do it because they feel it would add something to the broadcast so yeah this is this is part of f1 that is here to stay but there's just so many different strands of when it's a coded message for race control or when it's just someone furious and credit to them they remember to press the button so we all get to hear how angry they are
