I don't think he should go there.

Lucas Giolito needs a team, and he should put himself in a good spot where if he has another good year and he can now say that coming off injury, I've had back-to-back good seasons, I deserve this contract and some team lockout permitting.

We'll give it to him.

And it's just so strange.

You get to the trade deadline and teams are chomping at the bit to trade legitimate prospects for rentals.

And rental's considerably worse than Giolito.

And you've got this guy sitting on the market coming off the year he's coming off of.

I assume at this point he's going to have to take a one-year deal.

I assume that he's not sitting on the market because he's asking three years and it's March.

It's the beginning of March.

No, this guy's going to get a one-year deal.

And it's going to be frustrating.

If I were a fan of a team that trades really anything,

For a mid-rotation starter or worse at the trade deadline, and they passed on signing Lucas Giolito at the beginning of the season, it would be frustrating to me as a fan of that team.

Because it just feels like poor management.

He's always seen as a great clubhouse guy.

His on-field production speaks for itself.

It's not like he's older.
