So so I I mean I think the big thing we think about with conflict, um, which we learn from a book called Difficult Conversations, um, which is actually a non-medical book, um, which is a great read if anyone hasn't read it.
It's actually a uh written by lawyers and it's about, you know, other types of difficult conversations.
But the what they suggest in conflict is to not try to convince and persuade the participants to get to, you know, to what you think should happen, but to create what they call a learning conversation.
And the main question you ask yourself is why is this otherwise well-meaning person acting in this challenging way?
Um, and so having a uh sense of thinking that they are not there just to make your day difficult or they're not there to fight with each other.
They're both well meaning people acting in challenging ways.
And then you try to think, why is that?
And we think about are they on the same do they have the same understanding of the facts?
Um, is there emotion at play here?
And how do they see their identity in this situation?
And so I think that frame shift is is the big thing that helps me is just you know, these are well meaning people that love this person.
So how can I, you know, understand why we're here better?
emotions are faster than your thinking, right?
Yeah, I mean I think that what I'd say just in general about our own clinical team's emotions is that what I try to think about is is it in the service of the patient or is it becoming about the clinician?
Because I don't think it's wrong.
