Uh, very often terrify them.
I mean, the actual experience of having to go to, you know, a a GP or a clinic or any other sort of medical service provider, and probably the first thing you get is, you know, you have to fill in some forms and those forms may or may not even reflect they may ask you questions that you can't answer, you know.
You know, sex, male or female.
That may not be an answer that you you clearly have.
Um so
So even just the initial kind of uh entry to the system already kind of demonstrates that really kind of binary, you know, sex gender orientation.
Um and then, you know, there's there's a lot of anxiety basically when when confronted with be it uh a practitioner or a nurse or whatever that you're trying to consult with, whether you reveal certain elements of your yourself and your history to them because
Because you'll you first of all you'll fear discrimination.
Um you might feel um embarrassed or ashamed to talk about some aspects of even why you're there.
Um and
W often what sort of seems to happen as well, f I think this is an experience of many I can't speak for all trans people, but I certainly hear a lot of stories and I have my own personal experiences, and that is that the factual transgender suddenly becomes the key issue.
Mm.
And if I'm going to uh see a doctor because I've got a sore throat, it really probably doesn't actually matter very much that you know, that I'm trans.
Um but very often um th that can become the focus when it needn't be.
And that's especially relevant actually from from a mental health perspective.
That very often, you know, um practitioners may perceive the the aspect
aspects of gender dysphoria or something else as being uh the key issue that needs to be addressed, whereas actually somebody may have quite a range of other issues in their life that can be, you know, looked at or they can be helped with, yeah.
Yeah, they could be.
almost have to, right?
Um yeah, well look I guess, you know, what we've been able to do, um, for example in Melbourne and other places is is to set up, you know, clinics that are
