There was always a latent anti-Americanism, the way any smaller neighbor is going to resent the machinations and effects of its larger neighbor.

And they're now in the awkward position of sort of trying to defend staying in Canada when they've built their careers on resenting Ottawa and resenting, you know, the way their oil money is going to fund other provinces.

In fact, from Quebec separatism, we never ironed out what kind of result you'd have to get to justify leaving Canada.

Some people said you need a super majority of 67%.

They never got even close.
