of having a little bit of a competitive or sporting advantage by not having the other team know what type of impact a player like Alphonso Davies can have.
But the fans are rightfully frustrated to feel like they were played, they were lied to in some ways, and it just felt completely avoidable to me.
If you start the tournament and say Alphonso Davies has a recovering hamstring injury, we don't know how many minutes we're going to be able to get out of him.
He's being evaluated every single day and ultimately the choice comes down to him and how he's feeling.
And you stay on that message through the entire tournament.
A lot of people can accept when Alphonso Davies is looking despondent, cutting off his kin tape in the 70th minute of Canada's most important match ever as a men's national team program.
And I also think that there are colleagues of mine and fans that are wondering, why did we see Alphonso Davies doing so many keepy-uppies on the BMO commercials, but we never really saw him speak to the media outside of when he had the match day minus one in LA.
So you bring the captain and the Canadian men's soccer team's face of the program.
He's put Canada on the map, that clip of, my name's Alphonso Davies and my dream is to play for Canada at a World Cup.
and you just kind of dangle him in front of the supporters and in front of the media throughout the tournament, you're setting him up for failure.
And I believe Alphonso Davies fully when he says, I wanted to play in that match.
And there's obviously some questions about how much Bayern Munich really had their thumb on the scale about how he was allowed to play, when he was allowed to play, and if it was more than maybe the Canadian staff is comfortable with.
