And so I show it and the coach sees me, he goes, you can't wear that.

I played half the season with no shoulder pads.

And then I pulled some out of the garbage, and then after practice, everybody else's parents would pick them up.

They wouldn't pick me up.

So it's January in New York, and I would hitchhike home on the highway with my hockey equipment.
