And we're led to believe that these divisions are insanely more intense by really loud voices on the far left and the far right.
And so what that leads to is this state.
One of my novels dealt with mind control cults, and I went undercover into cults to do research.
And one of the ways that cults works is through a principle called pluralistic ignorance, in which everybody's miserable, but they can't talk to each other, right?
So I think that's like all of North Korea, right?
And so what we've seen is there's a lot of people who have these beliefs, but they feel like if they speak out for what I call the big middle, right?
that they're going to suffer massive reputational and financial damage as a result of speaking their mind openly.
One of the things that for me, I found quite compelling about the convention is that VP Harris is almost creating an authorizing environment, a permission structure for people to move back into an embrace of the American values.
She talked about kind of setting up a smart capitalist economy, an opportunity economy.
That means equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome.
Talked about law and order in a way that is, you know, applied without fear or favor based on people.
She talked about embracing the military and she managed to sideline a lot of the voices from the far left.
Now, that doesn't mean that's the death to America burning American flags crowd.
I'm still waiting to see where the movement on that is from Trump to kind of carve out, you know, Nick Fuentes more clearly.
Let's say Candace Owens, right, who is being propped up in a lot of regards by Charlie Kirk and Turning Point, who draws a lot of strength to Trump.
So I'm looking for signals for who is willing to actually move back towards a sort of sane 80 percent center where most Americans find themselves in agreement, but are led to believe that they're not.
Yeah.
And also, is it okay to move forward as a country?
Is it okay to embrace America and not say that it's terrible?
