Is it okay to... Everything she talked about was about the messages of grit that she has from her mom who immigrated from India.
And from her father, look, the way I view it is that the civil rights movement in America and civil disobedience, that's American scripture.
That holds the answers, the moral answers to almost every problem that we're facing.
What's the line between free speech?
How do we deal with peaceful protests but not violent action?
If you're protesting something, you have the responsibility to pursue it in a way that requires immense discipline and responsibility.
She's the roadmap.
She embodies in a lot of ways the roadmap to the civil rights movement.
And to me, that is the moral return that we need for an agreed upon set of values for how we mediate and moderate our differences and move forward.
Here's what I'd respond to that.
I mean, we tend to forget the incredible moral fortitude and insight.
Like John Lewis, when they were practicing for the Edmund Pettus Bridge, they had to meditate on imagining the cops who were going to beat them as little boys so they could respond nonviolently.
Like the onus in civil rights, if you have a protest, as people do on the right and people do on the left, we're seeing grievance on display with a lot of lawlessness.
But the civil rights movement and that to me, as I've said before, that's American scripture.
That's a holy movement.
It's a sacred movement that provides a template for this.
What that said was we ask for no rights that are different than core American rights that are accorded to everybody else.
And we will not break the law in a manner from which we will flee from the consequences of us breaking the law.
Like the unjustness of the law will shatter across our unbowed shoulders until a majority of people recognize its unjustness and include us in the American tradition.
It's a responsibly navigated move.
