In one sense, it is notable that the two sides are sitting down face to face after talks last month.
What progress, if any, that has been made is unclear.
There's not a lot that is known.
We do know that they plan to discuss technical parameters around, military parameters around what would happen if there was a ceasefire.
But to get to a ceasefire still remains quite distant, knowing that the biggest issue, Moscow's demands for territory in the east, remain unresolved.

They don't want hostilities to simply restart should peace be achieved, and they want a credible deterrence against Russia.
So for Ukraine, this is an important step, but how it actually pans out will depend on whether they can get to a ceasefire.
We did hear from France and the U.K.
separately pledging that they could send troops.
So clearly we've heard talk before that while Ukraine might be the front line of defense, a multinational force could act as a backstop.
After the talks yesterday, the White House did release a statement talking about its role of monitoring the ceasefire, providing intelligence and helping to backstop that reassurance.
