The defense cited the daughter's real-time texts, which were shared with the Utah County attorney.

Grunander said there is no conflict and that he acted out of concern for his daughter.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina confirmed the man shot and killed at Mar-a-Lago was 21-year-old Austin Tucker Martin.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office said a relative of Martin's told the deputy at a local business that Martin was missing.

Federal authorities shortly after that told Moore County that Martin was being investigated in Florida before details of the incident at the Mar-a-Lago resort came out.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office said it had, in its words, no prior history with Martin.

Now that federal agents are leading the investigation, Moore County, for now, cannot comment on anything other than the missing person report.
