They're a little bit different over the holidays, especially holidays, these long ones.
So kids are at home for quite a number of weeks over the festive season and the beginning of the year.
And so should you be keeping the routine that they are usually in during the year when they're at school?
Or do you allow for a holiday routine?
Do you bend the rules a little bit?
I'd like to hear from you if you're a parent or a caregiver on how you approach routines and schedules over the holidays.
Give us a call on 011-883-0702.
Send us an SMS on 31702 and your WhatsApps on 072-702-1702.
Joining us on the line now is family and parenting coach Susan Grego Harlan to talk to us about your child's routine and holidays.
Susan, thank you so much for your time.
Welcome to Weekend Breakfast.
Thank you so much for having me.
So let's start here.
Before we talk about, you know, why routines could or could not be adjusted in holidays or during the holidays, let's talk about why a routine or a schedule is so important.
Why is that so crucial for children?
Why do they need a routine?
And so you mentioned something quite, I think, important there and interesting about one of the things that a routine does is kind of let your children know what is going to happen when.
Give them a sense of...
I guess, order, predictability and safety.
And, you know, is that predictability also important during the holidays?
