My muscles cannot be sculpted to be the kind of dancer that lives in my head.
Um, but I'm a really good singer.
I'm an excellent writer.
I'm a fantastic communicator.
I'm good at those things.
And it's okay that I can't, it's not negative self-talk to say I can't dance.
I can't dance and will never be able to dance.
Like so many people of our generation were force fed that you can do anything that now, if we openly establish a known and accepted and provable boundary, I am not graceful, I am not coordinated, I will never be a good dancer.
It doesn't matter how hard I try, I will never be a good dancer.
I might be able to learn some steps to make it through routine if I
had to for some godforsaken reason, but I will be the kid in the back looking awkward and stiff and rough about it.
All right, I can't dance.
And that's not me saying bad things about myself.
That's me being honest about a very natural and acceptable boundary that I can't dance.

unfortunately, the way I learned my limits was by constantly throwing myself into them like a bird flying into a clear glass window.
Like I was never given the guidance.
It's okay to not be good at this.
You don't have to be good at all those things.
You don't have to be good at everything.
