That was a very boomer thing I just said.

I'm going to go.

Neurodivergence.

All right.

I have been trying to find ways to relieve some of my guilt.

And relieving some of my guilt often looks like giving myself permission.

But I, as discussed, am a filthy millennial.

So I feel better when someone with perceived authority gives me permission for things.

Is that stupid?

Yes, absolutely.

I am capable of autonomy and independent choice.

But having another adult that I feel is an adult who makes responsible choices, give me permission to do a thing that I 100% did not need permission to do, makes me feel secure.

So I am going to give all of our listeners permission for the following.

Embrace a little bit of coping, even if it's not the healthiest thing.

I fully embrace book escapism as long as you can do that semi-responsibly.

Is it a responsible coping method to completely disappear into another world inside a book?

No, that's avoidant behavior.

but I give you permission to do it every once in a while because at night, once my kids go to bed and we do all the things that we're supposed to do as a family, all the things that we want to do as a family, I tell my family on certain nights, I'm going to read.
