Live from our hurricane headquarters with real-time analysis from some of the nation's top meteorologists, this is Tracking the Tropics, powered by Bose Generators.
Oh I mean, I always love being all with you guys.
Thanks for having me.
Yeah, you know, this this is really all going to come down to me on how quickly this uh southwesterly or westerly turn happens.
Of course, we're talking about that happening because of the ridge.
That's currently off to the northwest building in.
So
You know, this is the rare occasion where I actually hope this comes right over our area because as you guys are saying, if this moves inland, the center comes over, let's say, you know, the I-10 corridor or maybe somewhere between New Orleans and the coast, uh, this will dissipate fairly quickly.
You're not going to have too many impacts inland.
Uh, if the Euro like that track or even the graph pans out.
then certainly we'd have a lot, you know, just sort of weakening inland.
Uh you're still going to have most everybody's right about the wind here that most of this rain is going to be displaced well to the south of the storm.
So I'm not concerned about flooding uh here in southeast Louisiana like I normally would be.
But that's what I want to point out right there.
If you can hold that graphic for just a second, notice how at that point of the spaghetti models, as you're about 48 hours out.
Which is where the storm would be at that point, the wind shear really drops off along the central Louisiana coast.
And so my concern here is if the turn to the southwest or west happens a little earlier than forecast, and mind you, this storm is very far to the north.
So I I think this is a lower end scenario here based on where that storm is now.
Uh my contention is if it is able to stay just slightly offshore and that ridge builds in and now you start getting it pushed a little bit farther to the southwest.
You have this MJO phase that we're in combining with less wind shear.
