I have to opt into that trust knowing that maybe there are so many other doctors or there are issues with medicine.
It's still far more helpful for me to trust and then opt
I think I've got to focus on living because that's what Lauren didn't get to do in the end.
And that's now how I think about it with health anxiety.
I do think that support to a point becomes complicity.
For example, when I read about people giving their young children these treatments, for example, I read things saying, how young can a child be to start stinging them with bees?
Those types of things, that's complicity in my opinion because that's an awful thing.
Even if I understand...
the love for the child and the drive to help them, I think that's not good.
On the flip side, shunning them and one of the things that I wish that I didn't do was refer to the treatments as blood boiling, scoffing, you know, go drink your bleach smoothie type of, you know, comments.
Not to her face, but that was the attitude.
And so I think...
We do need to engage with people going through these things, see their desperation, see what their needs are, be open-minded to what they're looking at.
However, we do then need, and this is where I really would implore doctors and medical practitioners to meet us there.
So rather than recoiling and saying, oh, no, you've gone down that path, I'm not, I don't do that.
actually engage, have the dialogue, you know, understand the science or the assumptions that these treatments are being built on.
It's not evidence-based, but there is a logic.
So if we can understand that perhaps we can bridge this gap and then pull people off before it's too late.
Absolutely.
I think one of the biggest things that I have found on the other side of this is that we are still no better at talking about mental health.
