Like a mantra for me as I went through my grief was it hurts exactly as much as it was worth.
So when it feels really heavy and really painful, and it still can do some days, I just remember that I'm honouring that.
You know, it's the love, and that's why it hurts.
The love is still there.
Sure.
So that day, it was a very ordinary Wednesday in July.
It was the school holidays.
It was a beautifully sunny day, one of those sort of
crisp Sydney winter days.
And my husband, Matt, and I had had a coffee that morning.
He had decided that he was going to work out of the office.
He'd been away on a business trip and recently come back.
And he just said, I'm going to do things a bit different today.
So he decided to work in a cafe on a business strategy.
And then he was going to meet a
a work contact down at a beach uh in sydney and they were going to have what they were calling a board meeting on their surfboards and talk shop i've never heard that i'm sure that's quite like yeah because you said to him but i love it yeah it's a good one right yeah
So that was sort of his plan for the day.
My day was getting the kids to their various spots.
And then I was going to go and work on my third novel because I was working as a novelist and was under contract to produce two novels for my publisher.
