My sister had flown that evening to be with me from Melbourne.
And I mean, miraculously, I seem to remember we did fall asleep at some point that night.
And then I woke up really early and I went into their bedrooms and told them the worst thing I would ever have to tell them.
I actually don't remember that moment with them in my son's bedroom.
I remember holding them, but that's all I can really remember.
I think either shock or self-preservation, something is muffling that memory in my brain.
And so I struggle to really take myself back there now.
Because obviously they're teenagers now.
Yeah, they don't.
We talk about their dad all the time, but we don't talk about that specific day.
I mean, I would feel uncomfortable raising it myself.
For them.
If they wanted to raise it with me, I would absolutely talk to them about it.
I mean, I might struggle to tell them exactly how it unfolded and what happened because, as I've said, you know, a lot of it's a bit blurry.
But I'm really conscious that it's important that we have those conversations and that we process the trauma as much as possible.
And I was told by a really brilliant child psychologist early on that they will continue to carry and process their grief in different ways as they age and hit different milestones.
You know, they will miss their father in so many different ways as they grow up.
So it's always, to me, felt like we need to have an open door to the conversation if they want to have it.
But at the same time, I don't want to force it on them.
You're right, I wasn't thinking, oh, I'm going to turn this tragedy into a book.
