It's also a demanding and dangerous sport.
As a parent with kids in the sport, it's definitely not for the faint of heart.
Every training run, every race comes with the understanding that the phone could ring and you could get news that one of your children has been injured.
Still, Jennifer's kids compete in high-risk sports.
And despite that, Jennifer is remarkably calm.
It takes a lot to rattle her.
That said, she has gotten one of those dreaded phone calls.
Her older daughter Bree was on the other end of the phone, crying after she'd slammed into a slalom gate.
The crash left her with a painful bone contusion.
In ski racing, injuries are just an accepted part of the sport.
But now, Bree was preparing for an even riskier event, ski cross, where multiple racers charge down the course at the same time, battling not just the terrain but also each other.
But Jennifer said if there was one place her daughter felt at home, it was in that kind of high-pressure competitive environment.
She thrived when the stakes were highest.

Jennifer and her family live in Arizona, and that weekend, in January of 2023, she and her husband were dividing and conquering.
He was up north with two of their kids for the snowboard and ski cross competitions, and Jennifer was three hours south with the other two kids.
Her younger daughter was in a dance competition.
It was Friday afternoon, and Jennifer and her daughter had just arrived in the parking lot of the competition.
