My books are in the modern present day.
I do as little research as possible.
My research is always to call the person and ask them about it because I always get that tidbit that's not in the book that's going to make that moment come to life for me.
So, and the other reason is a lot of times you get too caught up in the research and you slow your story down by giving us too much.
Right.
I mean, so I fight, so I'm the only one I know who says don't, I try to tell people do as little research as possible.
So example, we're in New York.
If I was setting a scene where we were the other day at the New York Public Library, let's say I'm setting a scene there.
There's two ways of handling.
One is someone can go, oh, wait, I can't write it today.
I have to go to the New York Public Library.
I have to hear the echo on those stairs myself.
No, no, no.
You've been there before.
Look at them pictures.
Imagine it.
You have an imagination.
Use your damn imagination.
And then later, go by and change it and move it around.
But don't let it stop you from writing.
