And my book was not, it wasn't Da Vinci Code, it wasn't The Firm, it wasn't like that.

It did very, very well, but it wasn't like that kind of a breakout.

But it still messes with your head.

And so I get like, I don't even know how someone like Justin Bieber can survive the sort of fame that these young rock stars get or whatever else.

It is, I think, even for anybody, it's a bit of a mind screw.

Luckily, I had a really stable family life.

How did it change your behavior?

What were you doing?

Oh, I don't think I changed my behavior that much.

But I just, it was like a strange kind of a freedom.

It just messes with your head when you're one thing and then you're another.

I think fame does that.

And luckily, writers don't have that kind of fame.

I have a number of, you know, I just did a book tour with Reese Witherspoon.

Because Reese and I wrote a novel together.

And I see the way people react around Reese and what she's got to kind of deal with.

And a lot of it's also fun.

I mean, don't get me wrong.

I think that, you know, these people... But it just messes with your head.

I don't know how else to put it.
