Throughout my entire career here, I feel like the only time I've hit a field goal longer than 58 yards was the end of a half or end of a game.
So even when the winds in my back, you know, it's like, all right, we get the ball to the 40 yard line to 58 yard.
That's what I'm expected to make.
The other stuff is very rare.
I need to be able to dial that up.
But the majority of my kicks need to be 58 and in.
And even I think I was looking up, if you took out the field goals from under 30 yards, which are kind of chip shots, everybody pretty much makes those.
If you take those field goals out, the average field goal distance is like 45 yards.
So I'm really trying to focus in on that number.
You know, let me hit 40 to 50 yard field goals consistently.
And if you're doing that, then a 53 yard or a 37 yard are still kind of within that range.
And you're kind of mentally used to that and physically used to that.
With kickers, it's really easy for us to just kick a bunch of footballs all the time, you know.
But in a game, what a kicker's asked to do is kind of be able to execute one kick every maybe 15, 20 minutes, right?
Because you kick when the offense stalls their driver after they score a touchdown.
Obviously, you have the extra point.
Then the defense goes out there for a whole drive, and the offense is back out there, and then, boom, you've got to go.
So I think I've been trying to gain confidence of –
waiting 15, 20 minutes and then got to have a field goal.
It matters kicking it with James and Matt and then however well I do, that's the end result.
