We saw it really going back to last offseason.
The pool of talent that's going to be available on July 1st is just abysmal.
So you're seriously looking at a situation where Anthony Mantha, maybe more so than any other forward,
truly on the market and certainly any other winger, any other winger might, might be having the best offensive season.
It's crazy, but it's true.
So there's going to be someone out there who's going to be willing to give Anthony Mantha five years and, you know, $30 million.
I, it would not surprise me in the least three years and 11 mil is not going to get it done.
And part of that is just because of, you know, it's a supply and demand issue.
And if you're the Penguins,
and you know someone offers anthony mantha you know five and a half million dollars a year for five years you say thanks a lot we appreciate what you did uh best of luck and you know see it see is it see on the flip side because that's that's too much money
And it's too much term for a player who ultimately has really struggled to stay in the lineup consistently over the last bunch of years.
Good as he's been this season.
Honestly, I thought that version of Carlson had come and gone.
I talked to Chris Pronger yesterday, legendary NHL defenseman, also a super tough dude who hasn't been overly enamored with Carlson's game in the past.
And Carlson's on his Lawrence short list.
So that tells you something, man.
If Chris Pronger, who's as good as anybody who's ever done it, he's the last defenseman to win MVP, yada, yada.
