A REIT is basically just a bunch of apartment complexes in different parts of the country.

You bought a stock.

But really, the stock represents real estate.

So you kind of bought real estate.

But the underlying exposure is to real estate, but the thing you bought is a stock.

So you might think, oh, well, I have exposure to the stock market.

I have exposure to what the cash flows are.

Well, I mean, you kind of do.

But the main thing you have exposure to is real estate.

It's the underlying asset.

So in the same way, a token is just a handle.

on an asset the same way that a stock is a handle on an asset.

But the question is, what is the handle connected to?

Is it connected to a commodity like gold?

Is it connected to a real asset like real estate?

Or is it connected to a company that has cash flows and dividends and all this other stuff?

Then, okay, well, that's what we normally think of as an equity is a share in a business, right?

But not every equity represents a share in a business.

So what does a token represent?
