Yeah, so I'd say there are companies, in particular Google, who've really been the bedrock of AI and machine learning.
They had a division called DeepMind that's done a huge amount of research over a long time.
They published and gave out to the world a paper in 2017 on transformers, which I know you've heard about.
And it was basically a thing to do with interpreting language, where before that it was really slow to make sense of what a sentence meant.
So if you saw a sentence that was like, you know, I saw Owen and he went, you know, to the park, you'd have to kind of read through it slowly.
You'd be like, who's he?
Oh, is that Owen?
I'm not sure if that's Owen.
And the Transformers stuff, immensely complicated.
Like I don't understand it.

Yeah.
but it essentially at a high level allowed you to read every word in a sentence at the same time and make sense of it within the context of every other word.
And the important thing about this wasn't just that it was faster, because faster things are good.
It was that it meant that you could now have one sentence, for instance, read by five computers at the same time.
So there was the introduction of parallelism to this particular form of like deep learning they were trying to do.
And this is what started the revolution.
in a sense.
So Google did all the work for free.
And then companies, most notably OpenAI, kind of after 2017, a bunch of Americans and their deep pockets started to sit around and be like, hey, this whole like natural language processing, LLM type of thing, because they kind of saw what Chachibidi could be.
