to present this proclamation because of my history with the Guardian Ad Litem program.

And I'd like to call up a number of people to whom this proclamation will be presented.

And I'll give you a little history in a minute.

Well, some are staff from the Guardian Ad Litem program, but I'm going to tell you the names of the Guardian Ad Litem volunteers who are here.

And then they are joined by Guardian Ad Litem staff,

Susan Ellberg, Patricia Jones, and Carrie Ann Brown, who kind of puts everything together.

She's right there.

So before I read the proclamation, maybe any of you and Lisa would like to join me over here.

But I just wanted to mention that whenever I do this, I always go back and look at the history.

who give their heart and soul to the program and to the children they protect and nurture.

Whereas April is recognized nationally as National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and National Volunteer Week is observed annually during the month of April,

And whereas the Florida Guardian Ad Litem Office provides legal representation for abused, abandoned, and neglected children in dependency court proceedings throughout the state, and whereas pursuant to Florida law, the Florida Guardian Ad Litem Office utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach to provide legal representation for abused,

And whereas during this last fiscal year, for the first time in Florida history, 100% of children were represented, and each child had a lawyer,

Whereas the Florida Guardian Ad Litem Office achieved a 97% appellate success rate, underscoring the strength and quality of the legal representation of children.

Whereas the Florida Guardian Ad Litem Office is supported by more than 8,000 volunteers statewide who collectively donated over 194,000 hours of service and traveled more than 1.1 million miles,
