These are, yes, it's slow.
It is on.
Well, this was long expected.
There had been a lot of hoopla about when this would come down.
You know, my first reaction was, what will this mean?
You know, we're sets of questions about what this would actually mean for the economy.
And my instinct was that, you know, given everything that we've seen coming out of this White House, from Scott Besson, from Kevin Hassett, the National Economic
Council Director Besson, of course, the Treasury Secretary, was that Trump would find other ways to impose the tariffs.
So, you know, my sense, you know, hearing this announcement today was not that this was going to change the facts on the ground in terms of whether or not there would be tariffs.
My sense was also not that this would mean that Americans would somehow get that rebate from all the tariffs that they have been paying.
But I think there was a sense of sadness for how much chaos the US economy has gone through.
We also got new numbers today on economic growth and they don't look, they're not terribly bad, but they aren't great.
And the economy is not on the kind of trajectory that we would like it to be on.
You know, President Trump promised that we would see
investments in manufacturing and construction as a result of these tariffs.
That's not what we've seen.
This has been a failed policy in so many different ways.
And so for me, it's sadness that the economy is not going to deliver for the American people in the way that it can and it needs to.
So frustration, I think that is the overall feeling today.
I mean, this is going to be very chaotic.
